The second round of the 2019 UCI Trials World Cup in Val di Sole -Trentino, has won the vote of best event of the series.
Val di Sole -Trentino hosted the UCI World Cup in the heart of the Italian Alps on 23-25 August.
A region with a long bike tradition, Val di Sole - Trentino has been welcoming mountain bike events for 20 years, including the UCI Trials World Championships in 2008 (in Malé) and 2016 (Vermiglio).
Vermiglio first hosted the UCI World Cup last year, and the organisers drew on that experience to stage their award-winning event in August. Natural elements such as rocks, logs, water and mud combined with man-made obstacles using precast concrete produced interesting and challenging sections for the riders.
This, together with an enthusiastic public and a great atmosphere saw the Italian venue top the popularity stakes with the voters, who included the top six athletes in each category of the 2019 UCI Trials World Cup (Men Elite 26”, Men Elite 20”, Women Elite), teams, specialist photographers and the UCI.
The event drew wide interest from fans unable to travel to Vermiglio: more than 33,000 viewers watched the action live on the UCI YouTube channel.
