The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that more than 60 athletes will take part in the second edition of the UCI Snow Bike World Championships, which will be held on Saturday 8 February in Châtel, in the French department of Haute Savoie.
At close of registration on 29 January, a record 63 riders (49 men and 14 women) from 12 nations were on the entry list for the two events on the programme (a Super-G followed later in the day by a dual slalom). Last year's event attracted 53 athletes (46 men and seven women) from nine nations. The number of women taking part has therefore doubled. In terms of nations, France enters the largest contingent with 22 riders (men and women), followed by Switzerland (15), Great Britain (6), Austria (5), Germany (4) then Portugal and Italy (three competitors each), with Belgium, Brazil, the USA, Hungary and Ireland each fielding one competitor. Brazil, the USA and Hungary will be taking part in the UCI Snow Bike World Championships for the first time. Athletes still have the opportunity to register for the event until the end of the riders’ confirmation on site (Friday from 13.30 to 15.30).
Among the competitors registered to date are all last year's UCI World Champions: Pierre Thévenard (FRA), Morgane Such (FRA) and Lisa Baumann (SUI), as well as all the other athletes who finished on the podium last year: Henry Kerr (IRL), Vincent Tupin (FRA), Veronika Widmann (ITA) and Jolanda Kiener (SUI). Also of note is the presence of France's Cédric Gracia - multiple medallist at UCI World Championships for mountain bike in the 1990s and 2000s (downhill, dual and four-cross) and crowned Junior UCI World Champion for downhill in 1995 - and Great Britain's Harriet Harnden, who finished first overall in the 2024 UCI World Cup for enduro after taking two victories during the season. She was also cross-country Olympic bronze medallist in the Women Junior category at the 2018 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
The provisional list of participants can be consulted on the section dedicated to the event on the UCI website.
The full list of participants will be officially confirmed on Friday 7 February.
