The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that more than 50 athletes will take part in the first edition of the UCI Snow Bike World Championships, which will be held on 10 and 11 February in Châtel, Haute-Savoie (France).
At close of registration on 31 January, 50 athletes (43 men and seven women) from eight countries were already on the entry list. France represented the largest contingent with 18 athletes, followed by Switzerland (14), Germany (8), Great Britain (6), then Ireland, Italy, Poland and Portugal (one competitor each). Athletes can still register for the event up until the day before it takes place.
Among the athletes registered to date are several champions who have already distinguished themselves at the highest level, such as Great Britain’s Danny Hart, two-time downhill UCI World Champion (2011 and 2016) and winner of several downhill rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, andFrench Champion for snow bike Pierre Thévenard.
The women’s competition will see the presence of French athlete Sabrina Jonnier, a rider with an exceptional track record: two-time downhill UCI World Champion (2006 and 2007), twice on the podium in four-cross at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and once in the dual slalom. She also won the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for downhill several times and for four-cross once. France will also be represented by Morgane Charre: the 2012 UCI World Champion for downhill finished second in the UCI Enduro World Cup last year.
The final list of participants will be officially confirmed on 9 February.
