Women’s first division road teams and men’s first and second division road teams wishing to be registered for the 2024 season must submit their registration file to the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The UCI then assesses, with external financial auditor PwC, whether the teams are in compliance with the UCI Regulations.
The UCI publishes today the list of teams that have submitted the essential documents (as stipulated in articles 2.13.087, 2.15.069bis et 2.16.014bis in the UCI Regulations) with a view to their registration for 2024.
A total of 51 teams have submitted their documents with a view to registration in 2024:
16 women’s teams have applied for one of the 15 UCI Women’s WorldTour licences available for the next two years and for registration as a UCI Women’s WorldTeam for 2024;
18 men’s teams wish to renew their UCI WorldTeam status for the second year of the three-year licence period;
17 men’s teams have applied for registration as a UCI ProTeam.
For clarification, the UCI would like to point out that any applying teams that have not submitted the essential documents by 17 October and are not included in the lists below can still rectify their situation until the end of the registration procedure. At the same time, the riders of these teams are reminded that they may terminate their contracts prematurely, in accordance with the provisions of the UCI standard contract set out in the UCI Regulations.
Decisions on the award of the 15 UCI Women’s WorldTour licences are the exclusive responsibility of the Licence Commission, an independent body of the UCI (art. 2.13.031). This Commission will make its decisions in the first half of December after evaluating the candidate teams' files on the basis of all five required criteria - sporting, administrative, ethical, financial and organisational – the totality of which must be fulfilled (art. 2.13.035).
In view of the above, the UCI will not be able to disclose the list of teams holding a UCI Women’s WorldTour licence in 2024 until the registration process for these teams has been completed. The UCI will issue a press release on 12 December, when the decisions of the Licence Commission have been communicated to the UCI and the teams.
