It was a double Italian victory at the Women’s WorldTour Ronde van Drenthe on Sunday. European Champion Marta Bastianelli (Team Virtu Cycling) took the win from a three-way sprint, while her team-mate Sofia Bertizzolo, in 33rd, won the youth classification. The two Italians take over the lead of the UCI Women’s WorldTour individual and youth rankings respectively.
The local Dutch riders were, however, in the forefront of the 165.7km race, claiming the remaining spots on the podium with Chantal Blaak (Boels Dolmans) and Ellen van Dijk (Trek Segafredo).
